OUR LAND
The property has grown slowly over the years, as parcels of family land have been pieced slowly together, motivated by a sense of the land as a legacy and as a gift that must be safeguarded. Carlo runs the estate which now embraces 30 hectares of land, occupied by vineyards, an olive grove and barley, spelt and wheat crops.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Short distribution chain: This has always been Carlo Pieri’s precise goal. He only wants to offer his clients products whose entire history is known to him and is ideally directly controlled by him.
Authentic Quality: This precise concept is achieved by combining respect and knowledge of tradition as far as the primary materials are concerned with modern criteria for production processes. In this way the genuine tastes that people seek are enhanced by innovative techniques.
Traceability: The food his animals eat is the secret to Carlo’s meat. It is selected with great care and partially produced directly on the farm.
A FAMILY DEVOTE TO FARM AND SHOP
The land around Montenero d’Orica is beautiful with hills from Monte Amiata down to the Maremma. Poggio Stenti is part of this landscape. Carlo’s bottega or shop is an obligatory stop for those who visit Montalcino and for all those who appreciate good things. He sells meat to connoisseurs, both traditional local cold meats and more unusual and hard-to-find items; all artisanal products made personally by Carlo himself.
VINEYARD AND OLIVE GROVE
From traditional crops, with the family vegetable patch and the household vineyard and olive grove, the Pieris have gradually progressed to a much bigger scale, while retaining a productive dimension that allows the direct management of the crops and transformation processes. From vine to wine, from olive to oil.
THE ANIMALS
The livestock are raised with care by Carlo and his father.
All processes are under the direct control of the Pieri family.
The animals are fed with good food, much of which is produced on the farm.
An extremely high level of hygiene is indispensable to guarantee the correct diet and the wellbeing of the animals.
